Terms of Service

1. Who may use PlaySubtitle

You must be at least 18, or have the consent of a parent or guardian. If you use it for a business, you confirm you can bind that business.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on your own computers, within these terms. The App is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights not granted here. Free features need no purchase; Pro features and Live Overlay need an active paid plan. Open-source components in the App are licensed under their own terms, listed in the notices that ship with the App; nothing here limits your rights under those licences.

3. Plans, computers and accounts

• Each licence is for one computer at a time. You can move it to another computer: deactivate the first one in your account, then activate the new one. The Bundle includes one licence for each product, so it is one computer per product.
• You sign in to your account with a one-time code sent to your e-mail. Keep your e-mail account secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
• One plan is for one person. Do not share, resell, rent out or publish your account, activation or licence.

4. Prices, renewal and cancellation

• Paid plans are yearly subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel. The price and renewal date are shown at checkout.
• Prices are listed in US dollars. Your payment provider may show and charge a local equivalent and may add taxes that apply where you live.
• Cancel any time using the link in your receipt or by writing to support@playsubtitle.com. Your plan then stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew.
• We may change prices for future renewals; we will tell you before the renewal that the new price applies, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

5. Payments

Orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which sells the plan to you as the seller of record, collects payment and handles sales taxes. Its terms apply to the payment. If a renewal payment fails, we give a short grace period before the plan stops.

6. Refunds

See the Refund Policy: a full refund within 7 days of a payment.

7. Your content and what the App does

The App recognises and translates the audio that you choose to play, on your own computer. We do not receive your audio, video, subtitles or transcripts. You are responsible for having the right to watch, listen to and use what you play, and for how you use the subtitles. Do not use the App to infringe anyone's rights or to break the law.

8. Acceptable use

Do not: copy, modify, reverse engineer or extract the App's protected parts except as the law or an open-source licence allows; bypass or tamper with the licence, activation or computer limit; attack, overload or probe our services; resell or redistribute the App or Pro payload; or use the service for unlawful purposes. We may suspend or end a plan for a serious or repeated breach, for fraud, or for a payment reversal (chargeback) you did not first raise with us.

9. Machine translation and accuracy

PlaySubtitle uses artificial intelligence to recognise speech and translate it. Recognition and translation can be wrong, incomplete, late or misleading, especially with background noise, music, slang, names, technical terms or unclear speech. Subtitles are provided "as is" for convenience only. Do not rely on them where accuracy matters (for example legal, medical, safety or financial decisions); check anything important against the original or with a qualified person. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss, damage or decisions that result from errors in the subtitles or from relying on them.

10. Availability, offline use and changes

The App works offline for up to 30 days between licence checks. We may update, change or discontinue features, and we aim to keep the service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted. If we end a paid feature during a period you have paid for, we will refund the unused part of that period.

11. Updates and downloads

The App checks for updates only if you allow it or when you ask it to, and downloads components (such as AI models and Pro files) from locations we or the model publishers operate. An update is installed only when you click Install. Install only installers from playsubtitle.com.

12. Intellectual property and feedback

The App, brand and website belong to us and our licensors. If you send us feedback or a support file, you allow us to use it to improve the service without obligation to you. The App does not send subtitles or transcripts to us unless you choose to share them.

Open-source components. PlaySubtitle includes open-source libraries under the GNU Lesser General Public License. They are installed as separate files with their licence texts and corresponding source code archives. A Microsoft Store package is signed and cannot be changed in place, so the same application is also available at playsubtitle.com as a download in which these libraries can be replaced with your own builds. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the open-source licences for those components.

NVIDIA components. For GPU acceleration the App includes NVIDIA runtime libraries. They are provided only for use by the App. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble them or remove notices from them; copy, sell, rent, sublicense, transfer, distribute or modify them, or use them as a stand-alone product; bypass or disable any security mechanism in them; use them in a way that makes them subject to an open-source licence; use the App with them in any system where a failure could threaten human life or cause catastrophic damage; or say that the App is sponsored or endorsed by NVIDIA. NVIDIA and its licensors own these components and may enforce this paragraph for their rights in them. They are provided as is, without any warranty from NVIDIA, and NVIDIA is not liable to you for them.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App and service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that the law gives you as a consumer and that cannot be excluded.

14. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, data or goodwill. Our total liability to you for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the plan in the 12 months before the claim and 1,000 Thai baht. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15. Ending

You can stop using the App and cancel at any time. We may end or suspend your access as described in section 8. On ending, your licence stops; sections that by their nature continue (including 9, 12-14 and 17) continue.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For a material change we will tell you (on the website and by e-mail to the address on your account where we have one) before it applies to you. If you keep using the App after that, you accept the change; if you do not accept it, you may cancel and ask for a refund of the unused part of your current period.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. The courts of Thailand have jurisdiction, without removing any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. Please contact us first at support@playsubtitle.com and allow 30 days so that we can try to resolve the problem.
