About PlaySubtitle
What PlaySubtitle is
PlaySubtitle is software for Windows 10 and 11 that shows translated subtitles for the video and audio you play, while it plays. Speech recognition and translation run on your own PC; your audio is not uploaded.
Two products
PlaySubtitle Video Player plays video files from your PC and has a built-in browser (Web Mode) for videos on websites. Free and Pro (US$29.99 per year). Available from playsubtitle.com and the Microsoft Store (ID 9P014WL4B4VJ).
PlaySubtitle Live Overlay shows subtitles in a floating bar over any other app, from the sound your PC plays or a microphone you choose. Free shows subtitles in the spoken language; Pro adds translation for US$29.99 per year, with a 7-day Pro trial from first activation.
The Bundle includes both Pro plans for US$49.99 per year.
Free, account and payment
The free download needs a free PlaySubtitle account, confirmed with a one-time code sent to your e-mail. There is no password.
Pro is a yearly subscription in US dollars. Cancel any time; full refund within 7 days of any payment. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy.
Each Pro licence is for one computer at a time; the Bundle is one computer per product.
Languages
Subtitles can be translated into more than 30 languages, including Thai, English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Vietnamese and Indonesian. The app's menus are in English.
What your PC needs
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. An NVIDIA GeForce graphics card with 6 GB of video memory (GTX 1060 or newer) is recommended; without one, PlaySubtitle runs on the processor and subtitles arrive later. At least 8 GB RAM and 15 GB free disk space. An internet connection is needed once to download the language data (about 3 GB), and to activate and refresh Pro; subtitles are made offline.
Privacy
What you watch and hear stays on your PC. The website counts page views as totals only, without tracking cookies or identifiers.
